Migration
A migration is the change from the model id you call today to the replacement id, including request fields the new id rejects. It is a change you make, unless the host documents an automatic upgrade.

What the provider pages say
Anthropic says that once a model is deprecated, you migrate all usage to a replacement before the retirement date. Requests past that date fail.
Bedrock says migration will not happen automatically. You update the model id in the application before the EOL date.
Azure Standard deployments can be auto-upgraded. Provisioned deployments are not. You migrate those yourself. OpenAI's deprecations page names a recommended replacement and tells you to move before the shut down date.
